War Horse – First ever 4K Live to Cinema transmission

A wet February day outside the New London Theatre in Covent Garden saw us rigging for the first ever live to Cinema transmission in 4K. Whilst we were using our tried and tested techniques to bring the audience an immersive experience, Visions (who were providing the vision infrastructure) were building a complete production gallery on the 2nd floor of the theatre. Taking audio feeds from the theatre involved the use of 4 x MADI sample rate converters in order that each department could run separate synchronisers, minimising dependancy on each other. The transmission broke all box office records for live to cinema transmissions and was number 1 in the UK cinema top 10 for that week.
